Making your job post easy to find: pay, shift, ZIP, degree and search engines
When you post a job, a few fields decide which filters and alerts your post shows up in. Anything you leave blank is treated as not stated and left out of that filter, so filling them in helps the right people find you.
| Field | Used by |
|---|---|
| Pay (min/max, per hour or per year) | The pay range filter. Hourly and yearly pay are compared at 2,080 hours a year. |
| Employment type | The job type filter (full-time, part-time, contract, per diem, temporary). |
| Shift (tick all that apply) | The shift filter (day, night, rotating, flex). |
| Degree | The "No degree required" filter, when you choose "No degree required". |
| ZIP code (optional) | Distance searches. Without it we use your city and state. Remote jobs are left out of distance searches. |
Lateral friendly comes from your agency profile's hiring details (laterals accepted, academy waived or shortened), not from the post. Only verified agencies' posts can match it.
Search engines
Live, approved posts can appear in search engines with job posting structured data (title, a public summary, dates, employment type, your organization, location or remote, and pay if you gave it). While full job details are limited to signed-in officers, the structured data holds only the public summary, never the gated details. SAMPLE posts and imported listings from other sites don't get structured data.
When a post expires or is closed, its page tells visitors and search engines the job has expired, and it's removed from our sitemap.
