Verifying your domain (Verified Employer badge)

The ✓ Verified Employer badge shows on your jobs only when all three are true:

  1. You have an active paid plan.
  2. Your account email is confirmed.
  3. You've verified your organization's domain (the domain of your own website).

Agencies must also be verified agencies. The badge is not an endorsement of the employer or the job.

Start

Go to Plan & billing → Verify your domain (or /employer/domain). Only the account owner can do this. Enter your website's domain, for example acme-security.com. Free email domains such as Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo or iCloud are never accepted.

Method A: DNS TXT record

Add the TXT record shown on the page at your domain registrar or DNS host:

  • Name / host: _secondwatch (or the bare domain)
  • Value: secondwatch-verify=… (your own code, shown on the page)

Then click Check now. DNS changes can take from a few minutes to a few hours to appear. This method works for any domain, including agency domains.

Method B: email at your domain

If your confirmed account email is at the same domain (for example hr@acme-security.com for acme-security.com), just click Check now. Subdomains of the same organization count (for example jobs.acme-security.com).

Agencies: the email method accepts .gov, .mil, .us and .edu domains (for example police.cityname.gov or ci.austin.tx.us), and the official website listed on your agency profile. For any other domain, use the DNS method.

Re-checks and lapses

We re-check verified domains about every 7 days, and you can click Check now anytime.

  • DNS: if the record is missing on two checks in a row, verification lapses.
  • Email: if your account email changes to a different domain, verification lapses right away.

When verification lapses, the badge disappears from your jobs, and a notice appears on your dashboard and billing page. Fix it and click Check now. The badge also disappears if the paid plan ends.

Manual review

If neither method works for you (for example an agency whose email is on a shared county domain), contact support. Our team can verify a domain manually after review. We can also turn verification off if a claim turns out to be wrong.
