Officers

Mock interviews (practice, typed or by voice)

Mock interviews let verified officers practise for a real interview.

Starting one

  • From any job: choose Practice interview for this job. The questions use that job's title, category and the skills in its description.
  • From the mock interview page: pick a role type (lateral or agency oral board, public safety sales, investigations, corporate security, insurance SIU, public safety tech, or general) and how many questions you want (5 to 8).

Answering

  • You get behavioural questions (“tell me about a time…”, best answered with STAR: Situation, Task, Action, Result), situational questions (“what would you do if…”) and questions about how your police experience transfers to the job.
  • If an answer is very short or missing an example, you get one follow-up question. You can also Skip a question, or Finish early and see your results.
  • Type your answer, or press Answer by voice and speak. Your browser turns your speech into text in the answer box. Press Stop recording when you're done, check the text, edit it if needed, then press Send answer. The status line under the button tells you (and screen readers) whether the microphone is on.
  • Read question aloud reads the question in your device's voice.

Voice and privacy

  • We ask for the microphone only when you press Answer by voice. Your browser shows its own permission prompt. If you block it, you can still type.
  • We never receive or store audio, only the text you send. Speech-to-text is a browser feature: in Chrome and Edge the audio is processed by Google's or Microsoft's speech service. If you'd rather not, type your answers. Firefox doesn't offer speech-to-text, so it shows typing only.
  • Your interviews are stored encrypted and are private to you. Employers and agencies never see them, or even that you practised for their job.

Your results

  • An overall score out of 100, and scores for clarity, specific examples (STAR), relevance to the role, translating your LE experience and professionalism & confidence.
  • Feedback on every answer (what worked, what to fix), 3 to 5 tips, and a stronger version of your answer. It reuses your own sentences in STAR order, with filler words removed and police jargon translated. Gaps are shown in [brackets] for you to fill with your real details.
  • Scoring is labelled Demo scoring: simple, open rules (answer length, STAR structure, words from the job, filler words, specific details and numbers), not AI. Each results page explains them. Treat the score as practice guidance, not a prediction.
  • Choose Retake for a new set of questions. Your past interviews and scores are listed on the mock interview page.

Deleting

Delete any interview, or Delete all at the bottom of the mock interview page. They're also deleted with your account, finished interviews are deleted automatically after a year, and unfinished ones after 30 days without activity. See Privacy: mock interviews.
