How New Recruits works

Who is it for?

People who want to start a law enforcement career, including in corrections and detention, and don't have police experience yet. Agencies that list here train new hires through an academy or field training.

Who can list jobs?

Only law enforcement agencies that SecondWatch Careers has verified. Companies can't list here. Listing is included with the Agency Basic and Agency Plus plans. Applying is always free for you.

What do I need?

A free New Recruits account with a confirmed email. There's no badge or ID verification. Each agency lists its own requirements (for example age, education, driver's license and fitness test) on its job page.

Is my information shared?

Only with the agency you apply to, and only what's on your application: your name, email, the optional phone, note and resume, and your state if you added it. Withdrawing deletes the agency's copy on SecondWatch Careers. Delete your account at any time.

Should I turn on two-step login?

We recommend it. Your account holds your applications and resume. It's optional for New Recruits accounts, because you haven't uploaded ID documents.

Can I use officer features?

No. Officer-only jobs, officer search and the officer community are for verified officers. Once you're sworn in, create an officer account and verify it.

Do agencies ask about my background?

Agencies run their own background process under the law. Applications on SecondWatch Careers don't ask about arrests or convictions.
