Coach code of conduct
- Stay in scope. Coaching only: no therapy, counseling, diagnosis, treatment, medical, legal or investment advice. If a client needs clinical help, say so kindly and point them to a licensed professional, their EAP or peer support.
- Safety first. If a client is in crisis, share 988, COPLINE (1-800-267-5463) and 911 right away. Follow the escalation steps in your contract for imminent danger (duty-to-warn limits explained at onboarding).
- Confidentiality. Never disclose a client's identity, that they booked, or what they said, including to their agency, employers, our staff or other clients, except where the law requires it. Don't keep separate notes with identifying details, don't screenshot chats, and don't record calls.
- Use the platform. Keep scheduling, messages and payment on SecondWatch Careers. Don't take payments directly, solicit off-platform clients, or ask for personal contact details.
- No conflicts. Don't coach someone you supervise or work with, or anyone in an investigation you're involved in. Never recruit clients for jobs or share them with employers.
- Professional boundaries. No romantic, sexual, business or financial relationships with clients. No discrimination or harassment.
- Honesty. Describe your law enforcement background and credentials accurately. Don't promise outcomes (jobs, promotions, reinstatement).
- Security. Keep two-step login on, use a strong unique password, lock Coaching on shared devices, and use only meeting links you control.
- Reliability. Keep your hours current, add time off in advance, and cancel only when necessary (clients get a full refund).
- Report problems. Tell the SecondWatch Careers team about any security issue or suspected misuse without naming the client.
Coaches are independent contractors (attorney to confirm the contract terms). Breaking this code can lead to suspension.
